The Benediktiner Abbey was founded in 1330 in the town of Ettal in southern Bavaria. Benediktiner's bier's are brewed following origional Benediktine recipes using special yeast from the town of Ettal. Due to exceeding the limited Monastery's brewing capacity, and in order to be able making this highly rated beer more widely available, it is being brewed under license and supervision of the Benedikiner Monks at Benediktiner Weissbrau in the town if Lich.
